Vaginal Dryness
A vagina is naturally slightly wet. When it isn’t, it can be uncomfortable, especially during penetrative sex, because the body doesn’t provide enough lubrication.
When a person has a dry vagina during sexual intercourse, it could suggest they’re not aroused enough.
Using scented products on the vagina can cause irritation and may disrupt the vagina’s natural pH level.
Sometimes vaginal dryness can be caused by going through the menopause, taking testosterone as part of the gender transitioning process, breastfeeding, taking contraceptive pills or antidepressants, or going through chemotherapy.
Treating dryness
Vaginal dryness is nothing to be ashamed of. If you’re experiencing dryness and it’s causing you discomfort, it’s best to speak to your doctor about treatment, especially if the dryness is affecting your lifestyle, relationships or sex life. There’s no need to suffer with vaginal dryness.
